Abstract
A metal backed, interchangeable, meniscal bearing knee replacement system has been designed to combine low constrained forces with low contact stresses(LCS) to allow nearly normal joint articulation and loading as well as long term resistance of
the
implants. We performed 14 total knee arthroplasty using LCS system(meniscal bearing type) in 11 patients. The average follow-up period was 2 year and 6 months(2 years ~ 3 year and 10 months). In our series, there were 9 females and 2 males with 3
bilateral cases, their mean age was 62.2 years945~71 years).
@ES The results were follows.
@EN 1. Knee joint function by HSS(Hospital for Special Surgery) knee rating score increased from 47 points preoperatively to 88.7 points postoperatively with all cases rated as excellent or good.
2. The average range of motion was increased from 97.2 degrees preoperatively to 124.3 degrees postoperatively. The average degree of flexion contracture was improved from 9.3 degrees preoperatively to 1.8 degrees postoperatively.
3. According to the Knee Society Roentgenographic Evaluation and Scoring System, the radioucent lines were found in zone 1(8 knees), zone 2(4 knees), zone 3(1 knee) and zone 4(2 knees) on the anteroposterior radiographs of the tibia. But total
widths of the radiolucency were less than 4.
